On Friday, June 19, 2015 at 6-7:30 pm, Zeta Fencing will open its doors to the public. Olympic Coach Zoran Tulum and World Champion Eli Dershwitz will present the Olympic Sport of Fencing. Guests of all ages are welcome when Fencing Master Zoran Tulum talks about the history of fencing and fencing weapons.
World Champion, National Team member and Olympic hopeful Eli Dershwitz will explain rules and strategies of the modern sport of fencing, one of the founding disciplines of the modern Olympic Games. All aspiring athletes are welcome to take their first steps on a fencing strip, learn the basics of fencing footwork, and hold a real fencing weapon in their hands.
Zeta’s free class is one of more than 700 events taking place nationwide between June 14 and 30. The events, designed to engage youth and promote the ideals of the Olympic movement, feature athlete appearances, family-friendly activities and interactive learning experiences. Around the world, more than 160 countries take part in the annual celebration. Olympic Day, created in 1948 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games, focuses on the Olympic values and ideals such as fair play, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship.
